Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has proposed replacing the lost anchor grocery chains of Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, and others with city owned grocery stores.
A lack of law enforcement has resulted in rampant theft and shoplifting from several retailers in Chicago. These losses have resulted in many retailers including grocery stores in shuttering their doors and closing down.
This leaves many questions.
Who chooses the pricing? Who vets food quality? How big of a selection will be made available? Will government run grocery result in poor service like many public service exchanges currently (motor vehicle, permitting etc.) How can new brands effectively service and be distributed once established brands are afforded lobbying power?

No idea why someone with these thoughts is comfortable using the term “ethicist”. Denying people the nutritional value of healthy meat is anything but ethical.
